Does my child need to prepare anything for an audition?
Nope! Singers should arrive as-is. Auditions take the form of a skill check, and all singers will undergo a series of vocal exercises designed to evaluate a singer's vocal range, maturation, listening skills, and ability to follow directions. Singers entering grades 9-12 will also be taught a short dance routine to evaluate movement skills. Again, no prior preparation is necessary.
My child was in PCC last year. Do we need to audition?
Yes, all singers are reevaluated each year to check their vocal development and determine next year's choir placement. One audition is required for each season.
How will I know if my child is accepted?
Acceptance letters are sent via email within 2-3 weeks of your child's audition. If you have not received communication after 3 weeks, please contact the PCC office at (850) 434-7760.
When do rehearsals start?
The first half of the year begins after Labor Day in September. The second half of the year begins shortly after New Year's Day in January. Please check the calendar for the most up-to-date schedule.
If my child auditions in December or January, when will they start rehearsals?

What choir will my child be placed in?
Your child's choir placement is determined through a combination of age, voice type, musical aptitude, and movement skills. After your child's audition you will receive an acceptance letter which states your child's assigned choir via email. For information on our specific choirs, click here.
If my child hasn't received an acceptance letter, does that mean they didn't pass their audition?
Absolutely not. We will communicate with you regardless of your child's acceptance status or choir placement. In all likelihood, your acceptance letter was marked as spam. Please check your junk mailbox or call Bekki Youngblood, Program Manager, at (850) 434-7760 to ensure that we have the correct email listed for you.
Is everyone who auditions accepted into PCC's choirs?
Auditioning for PCC's choirs does not guarantee acceptance. Your child's acceptance is determined based on their performance during their audition.
Is there a cost to audition?
There is no cost to audition. However, by signing up for an audition, we expect that you intend to enroll your child in our program. All singers pay a one-time registration fee and monthly tuition. These fees vary by choir, and more information can be found here.
