AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIPS PENSACOLA CHILDREN'S CHORUS Merit Scholarships Each year, the Board of Directors of the Pensacola Children’s Chorus honors outstanding members with merit-based financial scholarships which help offset the cost of tuition. TUITION & FEES RESIDENT CHOIR PROGRAM A ffordable & A ccessible A rts PCC's Triple-A Commitment Complete a Triple-A Application Today Step Up PEP Student? Use your scholarship! Arts should be accessible to everyone, regardless of finances. To unleash and support the potential of all young people in Northwest Florida, we must remove barriers. Access to life-changing arts education should not be the exclusive privilege of those with higher levels of expendable income. This is the philosophy behind PCC’s Triple-A Commitment: Affordable & Accessible Arts —a cultural and economic equalizer which empowers families to pay tuition based on their financial ability. What is it? This Triple-A Commitment adopts a sliding scale model of tuition. As such, a family contributes according to their household’s expendable income. This commitment stands on a foundation of fairness and equity and enables families across all socioeconomic brackets to access the quality music education programs of the Pensacola Children’s Chorus. How much might my family pay? While every family is different, PCC’s Triple-A Commitment makes tuition assistance much more transparent. The two largest contributing factors are your household size (i.e., the number of individuals living under the same roof) and total household income. Combined, these metrics will determine how much you will pay (represented by a percentage off full price fees). You can estimate with these charts: Monthly Tuition What costs are included in the Triple-A Commitment? This Triple-A Commitment includes reductions in monthly and/or semester tuition, the one-time registration fee, select performance tickets, and select merchandise items. Do I have to submit my financial information? We encourage all families to complete a Triple-A Application to get a true placement on the scale. However, those who do not wish to submit their financial information will be assessed maximum cost for PCC’s programs. Does PCC give full (100%) awards? The Triple-A Commitment considers the importance of a family’s “stake in the game.” As such, each family is expected to make an investment in their child’s success as well as their commitment to PCC’s programs. The minimum that any family might pay is $25 per month for singers in the Resident Choir Program. If additional financial assistance is needed, please ask about our Sing to Succeed program to see if your student qualifie s for free tuition. Does PCC accept Step Up scholarships? The Pensacola Children’s Chorus is now a direct service provider through Step Up for Students. After providing proper notification, families may use available funds to pay for their child’s PCC membership. Click here for more information. SING TO SUCCEED PENSACOLA CHILDREN’S CHORUS The Pensacola Children’s Chorus has partnered with the Escambia Children’s Trust (ECT) to launch the Sing to Succeed initiative, which seeks to provide tuition-free membership to PCC’s Resident Choir Program for low-income and at-risk youth, enabling them to experience the transformative benefits of music education. GROW MUSICALLY Sing to Succeed acknowledges the profound extramusical benefits of choral singing on young individuals. Research indicates that music education contributes to increased academic performance, advanced social skills, positive teamwork, and enhanced empathy. PCC's Resident Choir Program, with its intensive weekly rehearsals and high-quality performances, provides an ideal platform to nurture these skills. Singers engage in weekly rehearsals, where they learn music, movement, and teamwork skills. These rehearsals cultivate responsibility, accountability, and teamwork and serve as preparation for the climactic performances that help crystallize the singers' confidence and self-esteem. DEVELOP SKILLS Sing to Succeed is designed to benefit low-income and at-risk youth in Escambia County, particularly those living at or below the poverty line. The initiative seeks to eliminate the barriers of affordability and transportation that often limit access to impactful after-school programs. Through focused recruitment and partnerships with local schools, Sing to Succeed will enroll 105 youth in grades 1-12 over the course of three years. Singers enrolled through the Sing to Succeed initiative may benefit from pre-rehearsal tutoring sessions provided by Rising Minds Learning . These sessions focus on music theory, aural skills, homework help, study/life skill development, and subject area assistance. This support equips singers to effectively learn and engage in rehearsals while alleviating stress related to schoolwork. To qualify for this program, you must certify that the child you're enrolling meets specific eligibility criteria that has been established by the Escambia Children's Trust. Please carefully review the following eligibility requirements: 1. Child must reside in Escambia County AND 2. Be enrolled in early childhood education 1st through 12th grade AND 3. Are designated as (1) in need or (2) at-risk based on the following definitions: Need : Low family income, marginalized populations (e.g., immigrants, Black youth, Hispanic youth, etc.), neighborhood conditions (e.g., public housing developments, childcare or food deserts, etc.), ages served, and accessibility of programs offered in the community. At-Risk : This means children for whom English is not their first language, teen parents, children with disabilities or special needs, children who are underperforming academically, foster youth, underhoused/homeless children, LGBTQ youth. It could also mean children who have been exposed to violence, trauma, child abuse or maltreatment; children of incarcerated parents; children involved in the justice system; and kids exhibiting mild to severe behavioral health challenges.
