Pensacola, Fla. – March 2026 – The Pensacola Children’s Chorus (PCC) announces the upcoming departure of Assistant Artistic Director Juliana Child, who will be stepping down from her role after seven years of dedicated service to the organization and its singers.
During her tenure, Child has played an integral role in advancing the artistic vision of PCC, contributing to the growth and development of its choral programs and fostering a positive, engaging environment for young musicians. Her leadership and commitment have left a lasting imprint on the organization and the broader Pensacola community.
“Juliana has been a valued and inspiring member of our team,” Alex Gartner, PCC’s Artistic & Executive Director said. “Her passion for music education, dedication to our mission and genuine care for our singers have made a profound impact. I am deeply grateful for her contributions and bittersweetly wish her every success in her next chapter.”
Child intends to begin graduate study in vocal pedagogy at The Pennsylvania State University in the fall. “My time at PCC has been incredibly fulfilling,” Child reflected. “I am grateful to have been involved in many meaningful projects and stellar productions over the past seven years, and I will forever cherish the memories and bonds built with the singers, staff and families along the way.”
Child’s last official event with PCC will be directing them during a daytime recital at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Monday, June 15. Singers will also present another performance later that evening as the anchor ensemble of the National Youth Chorus.
“I have seen the seeds of lifelong friendships being planted among singers of all ages,” Child said. “Through it all, my days and nights have been filled to the brim with the incomparable beauty of voices raised together in song. I am moving on from PCC with a joyful heart and a fortified belief in the unique power of music to transform young people’s lives.”
Her departure will take place mid-summer, and plans are ongoing to secure her replacement. Opportunities for community celebration of Child’s tenure will be announced soon.
